SAVE-THE-DATE: 11/6/08 Program of Study (POS) Implementation Training

The Skagit-Island PrepWork Consortium sponsors many events, workshops and trainings that include:

• Curriculum development projects
• Career counselor/specialist training programs
• Pathway to Apprenticeship training
• Middle school career exploration program training
• Workshops on education reform and best practices

The Consortium assists school districts by developing opportunities for teachers to partner with Skagit Valley College instructors through articulation agreements which allow high school staff to offer Tech Prep college credit to students that meet established criteria.

The PrepWork Consortium works closely with its Executive Board members, which include school district superintendents, as well as business, labor, and community leaders. The PrepWork Consortium also meets monthly with its Steering Committee, made up of members from business, labor, community and Career and Technical Educators from our ten member school districts in Skagit, Island and San Juan counties. In the future, the Consortium will articulate additional courses, and facilitate student and teacher training opportunities.
